shepard energy storage

Shepard Energy Storage is a proposed 250-megawatt Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project that will bring sustainable, reliable energy to support the Texas grid. This project will be located in Galveston County, Texas, on less than 15 acres of privately owned land, directly next to an electrical substation and a major electrical corridor serving the residents of Galveston County.

Adding energy storage to the Texas grid allows extra power to be stored when demand is low, which is then used when demand for energy increases. This partnership will help to reduce or avoid price spikes and supply shortfalls. With Texas’ all-in energy production model, every type of energy generated can help Texas remain an energy leader with a strong, reliable grid.

This project is expected to be operational by the end of 2025. It has the potential to provide taxpayers, schools, community colleges, emergency services, utility districts, hospitals, and other local institutions with reliable economic benefits for years to come.
